Janis Joplin


Her career was meteoric in its rapid rise, heights of adulation, and tragic fall. Seemingly trying to live up to her image, she became increasingly outrageous, drinking heavily, indulging in drug abuse and, in March 1970, being fined for using profane language on stage. Seven months later she was found dead in a Hollywood hotel room of a heroine overdose.
